SpaySecure administers the sterilization agreements that breeders and rescues put in place when they place a pet. If we contacted you, it is usually to confirm or request information for a mutual client.
Why these agreements exist
It is a near-universal expectation in responsible breeding that every pet placed as a companion is spayed or neutered. The hard part has always been the follow-through, and that is the part we handle.
Our goal is a world with no unwanted cats or dogs in shelters or on the streets. Given the uncertainty around the health risks of early-age spay/neuter, we think the way there is to support ethical breeders in enforcing their contracts, rather than to sterilize every animal before it goes home.
